first home buyers
The First Home Owner Grant was introduced on 1 July 2000 to offset the effect of the GST. The Grant of up to $7,000 is available to eligible applicants who are purchasing or building their first home in Australia.Application for the Grant will be received and paid by the NSW Office of State Revenue (OSR). The Grant is not means tested and there is no limit on the purchase price of the property.
Broad principles of the Grant are:
| Eligible applicants must be individuals (not a company) who are Australian citizens or permanent residents who are either buying or building their first home in Australia | |
| To qualify for assistance, neither the applicant nor their spouse (or defacto) must have previously owned a home, either jointly or separately. | |
| Joint applicants will be restricted to a single application for a single property and only one payment will be made. |
How do I apply?
Just contact our Gravity Consultant, and we can organise all the necessary information needed to fill in the forms. As long as this is the first home you intend to buy and live in, and you are an Australian resident or citizen, you should be eligible for the Grant.
